What are some precautions for using an oxygen analyzer

News Details

An oxygen analyzer is an industrial process analyzer primarily used to measure the oxygen content in various mixed gases in industrial processes. It is widely applied in industries such as petroleum, air separation, chemicals, magnetic materials, protective gases for high-temperature sintering furnaces, protective gases for the electronics industry, glass, and building materials.

Precautions for using an oxygen analyzer:

  • ① The pressure of the sample gas needs to be controlled; typically, the pressure entering the instrument should not exceed 0.05 MPA.
  • ② The output pressure of the standard gas secondary gauge should not exceed 0.30 MPA.
  • ③ All gas lines entering the instrument must undergo strict leak detection, and a system leak check must be performed every six months when the instrument is in normal operation.
  • ④ Before the gas line enters the instrument, it must pass through a physical filter. If there is any air resistance at 10 u, check the filter screen (filter) first.
  • ⑤ Regularly clean the fan filter of the oxygen analyzer, once every quarter. In harsh environments, cleaning should be done more frequently to prevent overheating of the instrument due to poor ventilation.
  • ⑥ The installation part of the instrument should be level and away from vibration sources; this prevents errors caused by uneven sample convection due to an unlevel detector.
  • ⑦ The environment around the analyzer requires good ventilation to avoid measurement errors caused by oxygen imbalance in enclosed spaces.
  • ⑧ Avoid having flammable gases near the analyzer, as they can severely affect the accuracy of the detector's measurements.
  • ⑨ Since testing is conducted at high temperatures, if the gas being tested contains H2, CO, and CH4, these substances will react with oxygen, consuming some of it and reducing the oxygen concentration, leading to measurement errors. Therefore, when measuring gases containing flammable substances, this factor should be considered to avoid inaccurate measurements.
  • ⑩ When measuring corrosive gases, activated carbon filtration should be used first.

Oxygen analyzers are known for their fast, accurate, and high-precision performance. They use fuel cell sensors to measure oxygen content. Since the sensors are completely sealed, they require no maintenance.
